New Delhi:EROS TIMES: December 23 Top leadership of the Congress party held a “Satyagrah” at Rajghat today to protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act and the National Register of Citizens and demanded the protection of the rights of the citizens in the Constitution.
Congress president Sonia Gandhi, former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and former Congress president Rahul Gandhi also read out the preamble of the Constitution.
Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi-Vadra and many senior leaders of the party took part in the ‘Satyagraha”, who included Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath, senior leaders Ahmed Patel, A.K.Antony, Ghulam Nabi Azad, K.C.Venugopal, Anand Sharma and Digvijay Singh.
Thousands of Congress workers also participated in the ‘Satyagraha’.
Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Subhash Chopra represented a large number of Congress workers and leaders from Delhi. Despite the mercury dipping to below 7 degrees, the presence of the top leadership of the party warmed up the atmosphere at the Satyagraha venue.
DPCC president Subhash Chopra said that the morale of the Congress workers has been going up with every passing day, as the regular protest demonstrations and dharnas against the BJP Government at the Centre and the Aam Aadmi Party Government in Delhi have tremendously boosted the morale of the Congress workers in Delhi.
Subhash Chopra said that the recent “Bharat Bachao Rally” held at the Ramlila Ground has bolstered the confidence of the Congress workers in Delhi.
Chopra said that the Congress party has been opposing the Citizenship Amendment Act from the very beginning as it will divide the country on communal lines.
Subhash Chopra said that the Kejriwal Government in Delhi has not yet made clear its stand on the Citizenship Amendment Act. Chopra asked Kejriwal to clarify his position on the CAA.
Subhash Chopra said that the Jharkhand Assembly election results today were very energizing for the Congress party.
He said that the country’s mind has changed now and those who believed in the Modi magic to capture power should realize that his ‘magic’ will not work anymore in the country.
Subhash Chopra warned the BJP and AAP that they should now realize that the minds of the people of Delhi have once again turned towards the Congress party, and the party was poised to come back to power in the Capital.
He said that people now recall the golden rule of the Congress party for 15 years in Delhi.
Chopra thanked the Congress workers for putting in hard work to consolidate the position of the party in Delhi.
He said that Congress will always remember the party workers who spare no effort in saving the country from divisive and destructive forces.
